The women's and
men's basketball teams are doing just what
every team hopes to be doing at this time of
the season, playing their best ball of the
long campaign. Both teams wrapped up their
regular season play by upsetting conference
power Owens C.C. this past Saturday.
The Lady
Chargers won in thrilling fashion Saturday
afternoon by downing the # 6 team in the
country 64-61. Edison finished 20-6 over
all and 9-5 in conference play. The women
will travel to Donaldson, Indiana on
Thursday as they will take on long time
region rival Kalamazoo Valley C.C. at
4:00pm. A Lady Charger win would advance
them to the semi-finals on Friday night.
The men had an
equally exciting game on Saturday as they
took down Owens 85-78. After trailing 9-4,
Edison went on a 8-0 run and never lost
their lead the whole game. The Chargers
finish the regular season 15-11 and 6-8 in
conference action. Edison will travel to
Cleveland for their regional tournament to
take on the defending two-time regional
champion, Columbus State C.C. A Charger
victory will propel them to the semifinals
on Saturday afternoon.

The men’s and
women’s basketball teams came up with two
big “come from behind” wins against our
rivals from the south last night and one
game that one may describe as a game for the
ages!
In the first
game of the double header, the Lady Chargers
found themselves trailing 24-13 early in the
game but narrowed the Sinclair lead by just
one point at halftime. Edison came out
firing in the second half and held Sinclair
to just 28 points. Andrea Meyer lead the
team with 7 three pointers for the game and
led her team to a 72-58 win!
The men’s game
was virtually dominated by Sinclair for 31
minutes. Trailing by 22 points with 9
minutes remaining in the game, Edison
persevered and pulled out by what many
people said at the game last night as one of
Edison’s most exciting wins in recent
history! 6 Charger players scored in double
figures as Edison defeated Sinclair 82-81.
The Lady
Chargers improved their overall record to
11-4 and 2-2 in conference play while the
men’s overall record is 11-5 and 2-2 in
league action.
Both teams
travel to Cleveland this weekend for another
conference matchup as they take on Lorain
County C.C. The next home game for Edison
will be next Monday when the Lady Chargers
host Wittenberg at 5:30pm while the men
entertain Rio Grande at 7:30pm.
